About Prefer Pets
My husband and I started Prefer Pets in 2006 on an afternoon drive to Victory Park in Pasadena CA, to spend a lovely Saturday with our 2 pekes, Button and ShoSho. On our way there, our boy Button escaped from the carrier that we had bought at a pet box store and proceed to play with us by running around on the floor of the car, ducking under the car seats, and finally wedging himself behind the brake pedal (Button being a tiny 3 months old at the time). Luckily, we were able to stop the car without any injury.This is when we knew we need to have a better carrier to travel safely with our 2 fur-kids.
From our first carriers, original duffel and original backpack, created with features and functions that we wished we had on that day, we have persistently evolve the designs of our bags based on feedbacks and pressure points from real customers and from our own journeys with Button and ShoSho as they grew older. Every Prefer Pets product that we make, it is with the thought of what we would want ourselves in term of mindful designs, quality material & construction, and customer service when we were buying pet products for Button and ShoSho.
Today, we proudly remain a family business and are still based in Southern California, and while our little boy and little girl are no longer with us, we are committed to continue making quality travel carriers for pets and the people who loves them, for enjoying life’s journey with their own Buttons and ShoShos.

Too big to travel by plane but very good to travel by car. Enough space inside for a small dog like a Pug.

Fantastic duffel. Well made and spacious. This carrier straps into the back seat easily. The extra height allows the pet to stand up and stretch a little. Opening on top allows you to pet the animal. Pad inside is soft. Good price, too.

I really love it. I’ve used it in the car. I had previously trained my dog to another duffel that was awkward to use. So she was used to being in one. She got right in, zipped her up, and off we went. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it is to use.Having my hands free was really nice. In the car, the seat belt loops were great. Now all I have to do is take her for her first plane ride ! The customer service is fantastic. They really care about their product and customers being happy.

I use this for car travel and find it works well so far, it is sturdy and its easy to buckle the seat belt around it. Good size for our dog (chihuahua/terrier mix,). The room was a little less than expected.

I’ve got two little 5 pound Yorkies who fit perfectly in this carrier and they love it. They can go with us everywhere now. The top flap folds up so they can see us. There are several ways to carry it but my husband likes it as a crossbody so they are at his side. We took them to a farmers market last weekend and liked that they get lots of air flow-through and can look out. We have another bigger dog that I carry separately in a sling but he can fit in this carrier by himself, too. I recommend this product. Works great for us.

Sturdy. Well made. Have a dog who fits in perfectly. On the airplane, it is a bit of a squeeze to slide partway under the seat in front. Love the handles. Padding on bottom is very thin, if pet does any prolonged sitting need to add extra because there are metal bars than run under that would be uncomfortable for the dog to lay on for long.

It’s hard to find a carrier sturdy enough for his weight that also conforms to airline standards, this duffel does. From stitching to materials used, top notch. Sturdy, thoughtful layout, comfortable to wear. I am in the process of training my cat to keep it “cool” in this duffel, and it’s working. I follow directions from manufacturers, and the kitty is acclimating. 🙂

What can I say? This is one well thought out product! My girls and I love it. It is everything we wanted and much much more. I have 2 adorable Maltese that are 12yrs old. They are 10.45lbs and 12lbs. My little chubby chunks fit perfectly. Very well constructed. We are very happy. I rate this sweet dream five stars!!!
